“For this one-bedroom apartment in the West Village, we wanted to create an open space while also maintaining an element of privacy,” explains designer West Chin. To this end, Chin separated the bedroom and common areas with sliding doors placed within a dark wooden box, which can be pulled out for more privacy or retracted to create openness throughout the apartment. “The box also houses a computer desk, a television for each room, and storage space to reduce clutter,” he explains.
